My Vision of Nouns

Over the past several months, I’ve deeply evaluated and reflected on the development trajectory, organizational culture, and governance challenges faced by NounsDAO. I fundamentally believe in the immense potential of the DAO framework to transform current social coordination and governance. The issues previously experienced by Nouns do not indicate a failure of the DAO concept itself, but rather reflect a failure in leadership and the absence of a clearly defined vision.

From my perspective, we have not yet identified an effective management and organizational model suitable for this new type of decentralized structure, nor have we articulated a clear, executable shared vision. However, I believe these issues are not insurmountable but represent critical governance challenges we must address.

During extensive observation of NounsDAO, I’ve witnessed invaluable yet harsh lessons, particularly during the fork incident, when I felt the DAO was on a path of self-destruction and zero-sum conflict. Some community members treat Nouns as a corpse to be rapidly divided from its treasury. This led me to proactively acquire more Nouns tokens from the market and deeply engage in community governance discussions. The Break Even Movement was an initial step in this broader effort, aimed at preventing individuals who seek short-term financial gain from accessing DAO funds.

My objective is to gradually form a new leadership team, clearly define and rigorously execute a strategic vision for NounsDAO. All future proposals will be assessed based on their alignment with this vision.

My strategic vision involves positioning Nouns as a governance hub within the Web3 ecosystem, providing comprehensive governance frameworks, legal compliance solutions, strategic advisory services, and partnership-building support. As a trusted partner, Nouns will actively assist other DAOs in overcoming their governance challenges.

To achieve this vision, we will set clear, measurable milestones:

  • Within one year, establish deep partnerships with at least 1-2 external DAOs with larger treasuries than Nouns, securing delegation voting rights and actively participating in their governance as a key KPI.
  • Create a DAO Ambassador Program dedicated to ensuring effective cooperation with external DAOs.
  • Actively drive the Break Even Movement, ensuring that DAO funds are utilized to support sustainable long-term growth rather than short-term division.
  • Invite cryptocurrency lawyers, academic researchers, venture capitalists, and project founders worldwide to build governance infrastructure together, including regular Governance Summits and a dedicated governance research platform.

Ultimately, I envision Nouns becoming a dynamic hub attracting governance experts and builders from diverse DAOs, collaboratively refining DAO governance practices and establishing NounsDAO as the ideal experimental ground for developing and perfecting effective DAO management.

Note:

For a long time, I carefully considered whether now is the right moment to publish this vision. As the largest voting block in the DAO, any direction we set will inevitably impact members whose views don’t align with this vision. I fully recognize that a clear and strong vision may bring differing opinions and even challenges within the community. However, I am equally convinced that NounsDAO urgently needs this clarity and direction.

I deeply respect the diversity of opinions and needs within the community, but I firmly believe that a clear and resolute vision is essential for Nouns to overcome past governance struggles and achieve sustainable, long-term growth. Such decisions always come with trade-offs and risks, but if we lack the courage to take this step, Nouns will remain trapped in uncertainty. I am prepared to shoulder all the consequences and responsibilities of this action and will work hard to resolve any emerging differences through open communication, transparent decision-making, and active community engagement.
